Add my storyBiography contributed by John McKay
Lawrence and his brother 5689 Pte. Neal Found (/explore/people/100869) were close. Both died in WW1 and their family was devastated. Their older brother 1109 Pte. Albert Edward Found (/explore/people/185745) also enlisted and assigned to the 8th Light Horse and thankfully returned.
The death of Lawrence was recorded thus;
"Another Cavendish resident, Mrs. J. Found, has been informed that her son Private Lawrence Found has died from severe gunshot wounds in the head received when in action in France. Private Found, who is one of three brothers on active service, enlisted 18 months agon and was once previously wounded (right back GSW). He had been through a great deal of severe fighting till he made the supreme sacrifice. He was 27 years of age." - from the Hamilton Spectator 03 Nov 1917 (nla.gov.au)
"FOUND.- Died 23 Oct., of wounds received in France on 12th Octovber 1917, Pte Lawrence D. (Lawrie) Found 39th Batt., Lewis Gun Section, 4th son of Mrs J. Found, Davendish, aged 27." - from the Hamilton Spectator 17 Nov 1917 (nla.gov.au)
His sacrifice is remembered still by his relatives.
