Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Harry Blair’s parents had died well before the war. He was the husband of Emily Blair, of Redfern, New South Wales. He worked as an iron dresser at Ferris’s Iron Foundry in Ultimo prior to enlisting.

His much younger brother, 10297 Pte. Reginald Claude Blair 2nd Australian Field Ambulance had died of wounds in Belgium on 31 August 1917, aged 20.

Harry was killed in action in quiet sector near Armentieres, and he is one of only two Australians buried in the Gunners Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
