Leslie Alfred Harris was the eldest of 9 children of Alfred Edward Harris and Elizabeth Roxborough Smith. Brothers Dougls James and Edward David also served in the Australian Defence Forces. Leslie was a Clerk when he enlisted in 1915 and following WWI, he married Doris Roberts in 1929 in Brisbane, QLD where he worked as a Clerk. 

The family moved to Toowoomba in the Darling Downs, QLD in the early 1940s and Leslie continued employment as a Clek
