Biography

John Pargiter/Pargeter GRIFFITHS was born on 17th April, 1893 in Kew Victoria - his name given at birth was listed as Joseph

His parents were John Moore GRIFFITHS and Margaret Wightman DAVIDSON

He had previous service with the Commonwealth Military Reserves,- 2 years Volunteer Cadets before he enlisted with the Australian Army -Rank: Private - with the 5th Battalion, 8th Reinforcements - Unit embarked from Melbourne on SS Makarini on 15th Sept 1915 - Later on he was promoted to Sergeant  He was also a qualified signaller

John was Killed in Action on 25th July, 1916 and is buried in Serre Road Cemetery, France
