Teddy Forbes
Andrew Edward Forbes (Teddy) enlisted at Rockhampton, Queensland on 7th October 1915. He was killed in action at the battle of Messines Ridge , 7th June 1917 at the age of 28years . He and Sgt Ridgeway were attempting to dress the wounds of injured Capt.H.Rhead who was in a shell hole. Another shell exploded and all three were killed outright. He is buried at Messines Ridge Cemetery, France, and also remembered on the Sarina War memorial in Australia.
He had emigrated from Deptford, London,in 1912 and been working in the Sarina, Mackay area.
