Today we voluntarily restored the civilian granite headstone memorials of Australian WW1 returned serviceman Corporal David Skene Teys 19478, 15th Field Company, Australian Engineers, along with the headstone of his mother Elizabeth on behalf of the Friends of Toowong Cemetery with permission from the Brisbane City Council. Corporal Teys married Elma Isabel White on 5 June 1929. Sadly her newly wed husband passed away just over 12 months later on 3 July 1930 aged 33 years. In June this year we restored Corporal Teys’ brother-in-laws civilian headstone memorial in the Toowong Cemetery (Portion 10) ~ Gunner Leonard Edwin White 7303, brother of Elma Isabel Teys (née White).
