17 Jul 1917: Honoured Military Medal, For gallantry and devotion to duty on the night of 18/19 May 1917 during a heavy bmbardment and raid on the Le Touquet sector with Lance Corporal J. Ham they kept their Lewis gun working. While being bombed by the five enemy who had entered the trench he assisted Lance Corporal Ham in firing on them, and killing three in the trench and the other two on the parapet as they retreated.
