Son of Louis de Cressac Villagrand and Annie Florence de Cressac Villagrand of Sydney, NSW. Brother of Victor de Creeas Villagrand who returned to Australia on 12 July 1919 having served with the 1st Battalion.

Between 23 July 1919 and 23 October 1919 Francis studied a Course in Motor Trimming with the Mansion Motor Trimming Garage of York Street, Westminster, London, England.

Commenced return to Australia on 1 November 1919 aboard HT Nestor disembarking on 15 December 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney

During 1939c Francis married Phyllis Mary Atkin in Ashfield, NSW
