Cyril Francis Pedersen served during the First World War with the 5th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force and he was allocated regimental No 2661. He enlisted on 21st June 1915 and he served at Egypt and at Gallipoli. He sailed to France with the battalion in 1916 and he was wounded in action on 25th July 1916. He was admitted into a Field Ambulance with a gun shot wound to the jaw and he was evacuated to the United Kingdom where he was admitted into hospital. Cyril was boarded medically unfit and he was returned to Australia via a hospital ship on 17th March 1917 and he was discharged in Melbourne, Victoria.
