Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

George was the second son of Mabel Grace Dyson (b1874 in Perth, WA) and George Deverell Robinson (b1863 in Melbourne, Victoria). Mabel - daughter of infamous Perth brothel owner Jane Dyson - was sixteen years of age when she had her first son with George - Mabel travelled to Melbourne, Victoria for William's birth and he was adopted by her brother Drewy. Mabel travelled again to Melbourne, Victoria for George's birth in 1892, which is where she met Burleigh Stewart Wilson (b1868 in Tyrone, Ireland). Burleigh divorced his wife and followed Mabel to Perth WA where he and Mabel married in 1893 and had twelve children together - George used the surname Wilson. Burleigh worked as a Builder and Contractor.

George worked as a Sleeper Hewer for WAGR and in February 1916 enlisted in the AF (Private; Service No:790). He served with 44th Infantry Battalion in France, including in the Ploegsteert trenches in February 1918. George was WiA in France on two occasions in 1917 - suffering GSW to the head, cheek and back. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in October 1917, and in June 1918 he was evacuated to England with a septic infection in his knee. George was Discharged in April 1919.

Returning to Perth, WA George worked as a Labourer and in 1927 married Hannah May Horrocks (nee Smith; b1875 in Perth, WA) - Hannah (a Widow) and George shared the same Grandmother - Jane Devlin, but different Grandfathers. The couple settled in Perth WA where George worked as a Labourer. He died in 1934 and Hannah in 1947.
