Samuel Morphett BINNING was born in Truro South Australia on 19.03.1889 to Elizabeth Jane MORPHETT (1865 - 1892) and James Biffin BINNING (1862 – 1946). There were 3 children to that marriage:

Samuel Morphett BINNING married Alma Pearl TRESTRAIL (1887 – 1931) on 21.09.1911 at the residence of William Thomas COLLINS in Williamstown, South Australia. There were 5 children to that marriage:

Military service
Samuel Morphett BINNING joined the AIF on 23.03.1916 in Adelaide South Australia. He was allocated service no 15925 and joined the 2nd Battalion AIF, 2nd Field Ambulance. He left Australia from Melbourne on 25.10.16 and disembarked at Plymouth England on 26.12.16. He served in France from February 1917 until he was wounded in April 2018 and evacuated to a Military Hospital in Chatham England on 19.04.1918. He was repatriated back to Australia on 05.01.1920.
Death
Samuel Morphett BINNING died as the result of an accident at Morphettville on 2 April 1933. He was working as a ganger for the Waterworks Dept. in Adelaide. The coroner determined that he died of injuries incurred when the trench he was working in collapsed.
