JOHN HORSLEY, Jnr., son of Mr. John Horsley and Mrs. K. A. Horsley, was born at Bega, New South Wales, on 9th December, 1889. He was educated at the Bega Grammar School, and joined the service of the Bank at Bombala on 15th May, 1906. His subsequent transfers were to Cooma in February, 1909; Taralga, May, 1910; and Goulburn, November, 1911, as ledger-keeper, being appointed teller on 21 st May, 1912.

He enlisted in November, 1915, proceeded to France and joined the 55th Battalion, reaching the rank of acting-sergeant.
