Biography contributed by Sharyn Roberts

DEATH OF DR B. C. KENNEDY.
Dr Basil Carlyle Kennedy, who for the past seven years carried on practice at East Maitland, and had during his stay in Maitland become widely known and very popular, died last night at 10 o'clock in Sydney Hospital as the result of a sudden heart collapse.

Deceased was the possessor of a genial nature, and had attracted
to himself a large circle of friends, while to his skill in his profession
tho faith in which he was held by, his numerous patients is ample testimony. He was 37 years of age, and had suffered more or less continually, from the close, of the war, in which he served with distinction from its commencement. His war service brought about the disordered condition of the heart which, ultimately led to his death, and it may be said that he in no way spared himself from the difficulties of his trying profession.

While practising in the district Dr. Kennedy acted as one of the medical staff of Maitland Hospital, and for some years had charge,
in an honorary capacity, of the X-ray work, which formed in his  capable hands an important part of the hospital's administrations. He was also popular as President of Maitland Golf Club, where his tactful and gentlemanly bearing always enabled him to successfully carry on the social affairs of the club smoothly and with complete satisfaction. His untimely death will be deeply mourned on all sides.

The late Dr. Kennedy was a son of the late Mr, and Mrs. William Kennedy, of Sydney, and his wife, who, before her marriage was Miss Grace Curran, of Newcastle, is left with three young children—two sons and a daughter. The funeral will leave Wood, Coffill and Co.'s Mortuary Chapel, George-street, Sydney, tomorrow (Friday) morning, at 9.45 o'clock, for the Rookwood cemetery.
