Son of William Veitch and Maria Jane Veitch nee Martin of Cecil Street, South Melbourne, Victoria. William also served. Returning to Australia on 12 May 1917 having served with the 16th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on 22 January 1917 aboard HT Euripides on escort duty disembarking on 21 February 1917 at Sydney for onward travel to Melbourne.
