AWM Summary

Trooper Sydney Ellis Clare Johnson, 1st Light Horse Regiment from Little Plain, NSW.

A labourer prior to enlisting in January 1915.

Tpr Johnson embarked from Newcastle with the 5th Reinforcements on board HMAT Bakara on 22 May 1915.
He served at Gallipoli and in Palestine and was promoted to Lance Corporal in February 1917.

L/Cpl Johnson was killed in action at Tel el Khuweilfeh, Palestine, on 3rd November 1917. He was 29 years of age.
