World War 1 Service

26 Aug 1919: Discharged Australian Naval & Military Expeditionary Forces (New Guinea 1914), Private, He served in the Field Hospital from 27 July 1917 to 12 October 1917. He was sent to Europe on 1 March 1918. He arrived in the middle-east in May and was sent to Alexandria for shipment to England on 1 May 1918. He arrived in Southampton on 15 May. He became ill with the Spanish Flu in July 1918 and had to be hospitalized in England. Upon recovery he was sent to France where he joined the 12th Australian Field Artillery Brigade as a gunner.
