29 Jul 1918: Honoured Military Medal and bar, Awarded Military Medal During the attack on Merris he rushed a machine gun post killing 4 enemy and taking others as prisoners. He then ran to company HQ, once with messages and another time for company rations all of which was done under very heavy fire Commonwealth of Australia Gazette - 23 May 1919 on page 898 at position 116 London Gazette - 24 January 1919 on page 1250 at position 31 Awarded Bar to Military Medal Jeancourt on 18th September, 1918, an enemy strong post was holding up the advance of the left flank. Lance Corporal Beaton came up with his section, and with great bravery and initiative rushed the post single handed capturing the whole of its garrison (1 Officer and 7 men). Throughout the whole of the operation his work was of the greatest value. Prior to the war he was a student of Lucindale SA. He enlisted 11 Aug 1915 aged 19 years. He was awarded a Military Medal and Bar during the war, serving with 10th Battalion. He returned to Australia 16 June 1919.
