The details provided are taken from the book "Stealth Raiders - a few daring men in 1918" written by Lucas Jordan, published 2017, refer to page 303 to see the list of the various references to this soldier - plus pages 276 & 283. Prior to the war he was clerk of Sydney NSW. He enlisted 28th Aug 1914 aged 19 yrs. He served with the 1st Infantry Battalion, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was awarded the Croix De Guerre (Belgium) for his activities during the war. He survived the war, departing the UK for home24th Jan 1919. During his war service he maintained a diary, and this has been donated to the Australian War Memorial, reference 2DRL/0711.
