Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Charles William BOWLY and Alice BOWLY nee KING

Husband of Emily Eliza Gray DUNSTON

Upon discharge he and his brother Francis formed Bowly Bros., and in 1920 they purchased Donald Downs from the Grimshaws and settled there.

Kurrajong residents were saddened by the news of the death at his home on August 26 of Mr. Eustace Hamilton Bowly, formerly of Donald Downs, Winton, Queensland.  The late Mr. Bowly, who was 74 years of age, was an Ex-servucenabm serving in the 5th Light Horse 1st A.I.F.  Born at Quirindi, he had lived at Kurrajong since his marriage 36 years ago, being interested in farming until he fell very ill three months ago. Mourning him are his widow Emily, daughters Esther (Mrs. D. Umack, Ryde), Olga (Mrs. P.D. Williams, Carlingford), brother Richard (Toowoon Bay), and sister Edith (Kurrajong), to whom and to all other relatives their many friends offer condolences.  The late Mr. Bowly was predeceased by his daughter Edwina (Mrs. DuBoulay), brothers Charles, Frank and Norman and sister Mary (Mrs. Ross).  A private cremation was held at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium.
