John was born in Townsville on 9 Jul 1892, son of William Marshall Creelman and Georgina Moncur Arneil.
Private Creelman enlisted in Townsville 25 Mar 1916 aged 23, and embarked from Brisbane per HMAT A46 “Clan McGillivray” on 1 May 1916.
He served on the Western Front with the Divisional Cyclist Company 4 and the 4th Motor Transport Company.
He married Yvonne Anna Gerard in France on 17 Dec 1919.
He returned to Australia on 14 May 1920, and was discharged 30 Jul 1920.
He was a motor driver. He died 1 Jun 1957.
