Father
MOFFATT, Pte. Richard Benjamin, 940. 2nd Bn. Australian Inf. Killed in action 28th July, 1915. Age 49. Son of Francis and Louie Moffatt, of 58, Burlington St., Crow's Nest, New South Wales. Native of Sydney. Lone Pine Cemetery II. E. 17.
Mervyn Francis Moffatt, of the Australian Army Medical Corps AIF, enlisted at the age of 18, about 4 weeks after his father had been killed. Mervyn died from a cerebral haemorrhage whilst in England on the 10 October 1916, only six months after arriving. His widowed mother Maria Moffatt was living in Crow's Nest, Sydney at the time. Mervyn is buried in England, at the Cowley (St. Lawrence) Churchyard in Middlesex. His 4 younger siblings were awarded pensions.
