Biography

As a Jockey his greatest achievement was the Warrnambool Cup in 1907 on a horse named Zinski. He took up a job in New Zealand when his first wife died and had to return. His two children were adopted out and he later remarried.

He had 6 children to his second marriage with one dying in infancy.

His nickname "stone" was from often saying "stone the crows"
