Brent Burnell RODD was born in North Sydney, NSW on the 24 March 1879. He worked as an Insurance Manager prior to enlisting in D Company, 35th Battalion AIF on 7 March 1916 as a Major. He left Sydney on HMAT A24 "Benalla" on 1 May 1916.
He served with distinction on the Western Front during World War 1. He was wounded at the Battle of Villers-Brettoneux in 1918 and his efforts are mentioned in Bean's Official History of WW1.
He returned to Australia on 31 July 1919.
Back in Australia, Brent B. Rodd became the Manager of the South British Insurance Company for many years. He was a foundation member of Newcastle Rotary Club.
