Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Robert was the son of Giles Tatlock and Sarah Isaac Chippindall of South Yarra, Victoria. His father had passed away in 1900 when Robert was only nine years of age. He was amongst the first Victorians to enlist in August 1914.
He took part in the Anzac landing and was severely wounded during the first few days at Gallipoli, suffering a gunshot wound to his side and right foot. He was admitted to hospital in Alexandria, Egypt on 30 April 1915, but died of his wounds 17 days later.
His oldest brother, 1922 Serjt. Henry Dawson Chippindall 14th Battalion AIF, was also killed in action, less than three months later, during the August offensives at Gallipoli. Henry was 43 years of age, one of the oldest men from Brunswick, Victoria, to successfully enlist early in the war.
