LIEUT. EDMONDS.
Lieutenant Sheppard Lee Edmonds, reported wounded, was born in 1887, and gazetted to a commission in the 9th (New South Wales Mounted Rifles) Light Horse in February, 1913. He was one of the first to volunteer on the out-break of war, and left for the front with the First Australian Light Horse Brigade, under Colonel H. G. Chauvel.
Soldier Settlement Record -
Sheppard Lee Edmonds applied for an advance on 24 January 1920.[1] The advance was approved on 30 April 1920.[2] His property was to be used solely for grazing purposes. It consisted of 4053 acres in the County of Bunarba, Parish of Numby Numby, Land District of Moree and was a Crown Lease No.18/3.[3] His holding was big enough to be a home maintenance area.[4]
The block was recognised as being a difficult holding due to the extremes of flood and drought. Despite this Edmonds made a final payment of Interest and principle by 6 May 1924.[5]
