My grandfather

My mother was Marion Miller, Alexander Lorimer Miller’s only daughter. Marion was born when my grandfather was still at the front. He died without seeing her.
Marion went to Art school in Vienna where she met and married Mr. Haumer. They had 2 children: Dirk and Barbara Haumer. Now deceased. Marion met my father, Ahmed Moharram also in Vienna after WW II. They got married in 1952 in Cairo/ Egypt. My grandmother, Isabell Kennedy Miller joined them in Egypt after a few years. My brother Imam Moharram was born 1953, followed by Farid Moharram, 1956-2023. I was born on my mother’s birth date: 10/10
My grandfather’s photograph was always displayed with honor in our home. My mother looked a lot like him.
When my mother came to visit me in the US many years ago, she needed a medical procedure. After receiving the “cocktail”. Her often reserved demeanor was relaxed and she became emotional, crying and calling out for her father that she never met. That moment gripped me. I held her hand and felt so deeply for her.
I will upload a photo or two soon.
