Son of Edwin Joseph Quarmby and Jane Quarmby nee Lindbeck, Sunnyside, Batlow, NSW.

Brother of Arthur Richard Quarmby/Quamby) who was killed in action on 1 May 1919 and has no known grave. His name appears on the Jerusalem Memorial, Panel 58; Oliver Wesley Quarmby who returned to Australia on 22 August 1919 having served with the 2nd Battalion

Returned to Australia on 11 February 1919 aboard HT Aeneas.
