A letter from fellow soldier 597 Pte H.W. Lamb

Re L.C. Alexander, 42bn, K.I.A. 9/6/17

Dear ????
in reply to your favour of the ??th inst. re L.C. Alexander's death - Chris, five others, and myself were going up to the front when we were all wounded. We were just about on the Messines - Warton Road.
He was killed instantly and never had a wound on him - killed by concussion i have been through several soldiers' cemeteries but have not been able to find him. I think he would have been buried in an old German trench close to where he was killed in the field. yours faithfully,
597 Pte H.W. Lamb
ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOURS
