Stanton George Wright was a blacksmith from Ringwood Victoria. He enlisted the RAN in February 1915 and served with them in Australia until February 1916 as a Boy Seaman on the ship Yingira. He was discharged due to medical condition, likely the fibrosis of lungs identified when he enlisted in the AIF in January 1917, embarking the following month. He went AWOL in Cape Town and was awarded 168 hours of detention and the loss of 9 days pay. This was the first of many instances of him going AWOL.
He served with 38th Battalion in Western Europe and later joined the War Graves Registration Detachment. Stan retuned to Australia in August 1919. He attempted to enlist in the Militia in 1934 however was deemed unfit. During World War Two he served in the 17th Garrison Battalion at Murchison POW Camp and the Postal Corps.
