Died on this date - 8th September.....Private Frederick Edward Edwards was born at Quorn, South Australia in 1893. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 31st May, 1915 as a 22 year old Labourer.
Private Edwards was reported absent without leave (AWL) from Camp twice in August (4 days then 2 days). He was listed in the South Australian Police Gazette as being AWL (3rd time) from 27th August, 1915.

Private Frederick Edward Edwards embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on HMAT Star of England (A15) on 21st September, 1915 with the 7th Infantry Brigade, 27th Infantry Battalion, 4th Reinforcements. He was reported as AWL from Commanding Officers 3 pm Parade on 3rd November, 1915 at Heliopolis but found in Camp at 9 pm - awarded 3 days confined to Camp.

Private Edwards arrived in France on 21st March, 1916. He was AWL for around 9 hours on 31st March, 1916. He forfeited 1 days' pay & awarded 7 days Field Punishment No. 2 for making a false statement.
Private Edwards was wounded in action in France on 4th August, 1916 with shrapnel wounds to back & abdomen. He was invalided to England on Hospital Ship "Brighton".

Private Frederick Edward Edwards was admitted to Norfolk War Hospital, Norwich, Norfolk, England on 28th August, 1916 – with abdominal wounds & Peritonitis (severe). His condition was listed as dangerously ill. Sadly he died there on 8th September, 1916 from wounds received in action in France - Gunshot wounds to abdomen & General Peritonitis.

Private Frederick Edward Edwards was buried in Earlham Road Cemetery, Norwich, Norfolk, England where there are 23 other WW1 Australian Soldiers buried.
