Joshua James Healey was born on the 7 of February in 1892. He lived in Norwood South Australia and went to school at Norwood public school. Joshua worked as a Labourer up till the war. He was 22 when he signed up for the war and he was single with no children. 

Joshua was a part of the 9th Light Horse Regiment, B Squadron. The Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A10 Karroo on 11 February 1915.  On the 6th of September 1916 he fell off a horse and injured his back, bruised. On the 9th of September he was transported to a hospital. On the 22nd of March 1917, he was Taken on strength. Later on the 31 of July 1917 he was sick and went to hospital soon on the 9th of August 1917 he was fit for duty again.

After the war, Joshua James Healey returned to Australia. He returned on the 7th of April 1919 from Gallipoli. He was eligible for the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, and Victory Medal.
