Son of David Virgo and Sarah Ann Virgo nee Collins of Balaklava, SA. Brother of Colin Lionel Virgo who returned to Australia on 14 August 1919 having served with the 8th Field Artillery Brigade.
On 25 May 1909 Claude married Grace Evelyn Harvey in residence of W.H. Harvey, Port Adelaide, SA.
Commenced return to Australia on 20 June 1919 aboard HT Konig Friedrich August disembarking on 7 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide

Post war Claude was employed as an auctioneer clerk with E.W. Hillson before joining R.W.E. Turner
