Military Medal Cecil Arthur Hill
Cecil Arthur Hill was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in action during an attack on Hermies in France on the 9.4.1917.
It was notified in the London Gazette on the 26.5.1917 and later in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on the 11.10.1917.
The 3rd Field Company of Engineers were constructing a strong point under heavy sniper and artillery fire.
2nd Lieutenant Lionel James Price was awarded the Military Cross.
Lance Corporal Clifford Jacobs, Lance Corporal Cecil Arthur Hill, Sapper Victor John Charles Dunstan, Corporal William Francis Tailor and Corporal Edward Patrick Dare were all awarded the Military Medal.
Cecil Arthur Hill's citation as published reads "In the construction of a strong point during the attack on HERMIES on the morning of 9/4/17 he displayed great skill and courage and set a splendid example to the men under him under trying circumstances as the party was continually under shell fire".
