Served and suffered during The Great War, resting at Sandgate Cemetery.

METHODIST 2 (PRIMITIVE) 19 SE. 11.

Born at Cardiff, New South Wales on the 15th October 1894 to Henry and Ada May Palmer, husband of Florence Ivy (J?) Palmer nee Stubberfield (married 1920, Wickham, N.S.W., died 1985, 44 years a widow), George enlisted March 1916 at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Admitted to hospital 18.4.1917 (adenitis).

Wounded accidentally 21.4.1917 (GSW left upper arm, accident).

Wounded in action - 27.7.1917 (GSW left arm, amputated, and right side fracture of two ribs, severe).

George was invalided home April 1918, being discharged medically unfit (amputation left arm) on the 14th October 1918.

Mr. Palmer’s name has been inscribed on the Wickham Municipal District Roll of Honour Board (1).
The tragic circumstances of George’s death were reported.  Fall near Hamilton Hotel, fractured skull

George’s headstone inscription gives us no indication of his service during The Great War, so I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label in remembrance of his suffering for God, King and Country.

Service record states Died after Discharge, 22/8/1941.

Plaque in New South Wales Garden of Remembrance.

Lest We Forget.
