Son of Montague and Emily J PURCELL
Of Nottingham, Parramatta Road, NSW
Private M. H. C. Purcell, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. M, J. Purcell, of Nottingham, Parramatta-road, Ryde, who has boen wounded in France, was born at George's Head. Another son, serving on hoard H.M.A.S. Sydney, was on board at the time of the fight with the Emden.

Private Montague Horatio Charles Purcell, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Purcell, of Nottingham, Parramatta-rond, Ryde, was killed in action on April 7. He was wounded at Pozieres and again elsewhere in France. He was born at George's Head, his father at the time being coy. sergeant-major of the Permanent Submarine Miners. Another son is serving on H.M.A.S. Sydney, and was on board at the time when the German raider Emden was sunk. A further son volunteered at Nauru, Marshall Islands, and a younger son has lately joined the Royal Australian Artillery at South Head as trumpeter. Previous to enlisting Private Purcell was employed at the Meadow-bank works.
