24 Jan 1919: Honoured Military Medal, The Battle of Amiens, Sergeant Densley displayed much gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance on 8th. August. When MORCOURT Valley was reached Sergeant Densley was moving with “A” Company and they came under Machine Gun Fire from the wood there. He displayed much coolness and initiative by immediately collecting a party and working around to a flank, led the party in and succeeded in putting the gun out of action. He himself disabling a number of Boche in doing so. Sergt. Densley then proceeded through the woo and cleared a number of shelters of the enemy at great person risk. His coolness and devotion to duty was a fine example to those under him and his work was done in a most thorough and cheerful manner, aiding much to maintain the spirits of those in connection with him.

Alfred was born in 1889. He was the oldest child and was born at Talbot, South Australia. Later he would be enrolled at Rose Park Primary School and the Port Adelaide Model School.

Alfred was a working farmer before he enlisted as a Private in the AIF in March 1916. His unit was the 32nd Australian Infantry Battalion. He was wounded near Ypres on 25 October 1917, suffering a wound to the right elbow. After treatment in England, he returned to his unit in February 1918. He won the Military Medal through his actions at Amiens on 8 August 1918, when he cleared a wood of German machine gunners which held up the advance. After the end of the war he was promoted to Lieutenant. He returned to Australia in mid 1919.

Alfred married Beatrice and together they had three children; Don, Lloyd and Joy. Alfred was a farmer in Keith in later years and in 1933 was appointed a Justice of the Peace.

Alfred died aged 68 years on the 26th January 1958.
