Admitted to hospital 29.7.1915 with enteric fever, Mr McCarthy returned home April 1916 medically unfit.

I have not located his name inscribed on any known War Memorial or Roll of Honour.

Also served Boer War.

Younger brother Herbert (Reg No-378, 17th Battalion, born 1893?, died 1950) also resting at the cemetery, unmarked grave (cross to be erected).

Many thanks to Michelle Foster for her family history research with the McCarthy family.
