PRIVATE F. BASSETT.
Mr. Bassett, of Sebastian, received a telegram from the Defence department on 18th Dec. notifying him of the death of his second eldest son; Private Fred Bassett "D'' Co., 5th Bati.. at the Dardanelles from pneumonia on 12th December. The deceased soldier was I8 years of age, and prior to enlisting followed the occupation of a farmer at Sebastian. Leaving Sebastian, he went to the metropolis, where he enlisted. He was well known and highly respected by the people of Sebastian. Mr. Bassett's third son, Private N. Bassett. is now in Egypt. His fourth son, Constable H. E. Bassett, of the Bendigo police, offered his services, and was rejected.
