Buried as George Wellstead HARRIS
The death occurred on Thursday last of Mr. George W. Harris, an employee of the Kalgoorlie Roads Board for the past 25 years. The deceased gentleman, who had been ailing for some time, was born 50 years ago in Albany, where his parents were old and high respected residents. During the war he saw three years' active service abroad with the 44th Battalion, A.I.F. He leaves a widow and three sons to mourn their loss. The funeral yesterday was attended by a big crowd of sympathisers, including many of his workmates, chariman and secretary of the Kalgoorlie Roads Board, and representatives of the R.S.L. The pall-bearers were Messres. F.C. Simpson (Secretary, Kalgoorlie Roads Board,), A.L. Taylor (Secretary, Municipal and Roads Board Employee's Union), S. Taylor and B Vallender (R.S.L.), and H Davis and R. Morley (Kalgoorlie Roads Board Employees). The Ven. Archbishop Brewis conducted the burial service, and the funeral arrangements were carried out by A. and J. Kyle.
