175 Private George Reginald Scott of Ovingham, South Australia had been employed as a fitter and turner prior to his enlistment for War Service on the 12th of July 1915. Allocated to the 32nd Battalion 1st AIF, George was embarked for Egypt and further training on the 18th of November 1915.

With his Batalion, George was shipped to France where he arrrived on the 25th of June 1916. George's service in France would be a short one as within weeks of his arrival his Battalion was committed to the Battle of Fromelles 18/20th of July. During this fighting, George received a serious wound to his right thigh and was evacuated to England for hospitalisation, once his condition had been stabilised on the 20th of August. George would remain in England for further treatment until he was deemed fit to be shipped back to Australia as an invalid on the 3rd of July 1917.
