Ernest Chandler was born on 01 Dec 1890 at Yarrowitch, Walcha, the son of Andrew James Chandler & Jessie Gertrude Curtis (aka Steiger), now of Pelican, Chinchilla, Queensland and later of Judds Creek via Rockley, New South Wales.

Ernest had a sister Gertrude Chandler who was born on the 24 July 1892 at Yarrowitch.

When Ernest enlisted into the Australian Imperial Forces he was 25 years 4 months old,  single, a farmer and listed his father as his next of kin, and his religion as Church of England.

Description: 5ft -9in, 163lbs, med complextion, blue eyes, brown hair.
