George was born in Scotland on 25 Apr 1887, son of William and Isabella Stewart.
Private Stewart enlisted in Townsville on 30 Oct 1916 and embarked from Sydney per HMAT A72 “Beltana” on 25 Nov 1916.
He served on the Western Front with the 9th Battalion AIF and the 4th Pioneer Battalion.
He returned to Australia on 5 Mar 1919.
He died 16 Jan 1928. He was a carpenter.
