George Love Brown was born in Glasgow in 1883 and had previously served for 2 years with the Australian AAMC, 2 years with the Territorial RAMC and 6 years with RAMC volunteers. In World War 1, George enlisted at Perth on the 9.11.1915, with service number 9832, aged 32 years 2 months. George is described as being 5 feet 7 ½ inches tall, with a chest measurement of 34-38 inches, fair complexion, grey eyes and light brown hair. He was a pattern maker and Presbyterian. His wife, Susan lived in Keane St Cottesloe Beach. At Blackboy Hill, he was allocated to the 16th reinforcements of the 4th Field Ambulance. George embarked at Fremantle on the 18.11.1915 on the HMAT Shropshire A9. He was promoted to Provisional Corporal on 25.1.16. His rank as Corporal was confirmed on the 12.10.16 He was awarded a Military Medal on 28.9.17, for conspicuous service and served with the 4th & 11th Field Ambulance. He returned to Australia on the Wandilla as Nursing Staff on the 31.3.19, disembarking on the 9.5.1919. He was discharged on the 7.9.1919. George died on the 2.12.1958 in Mosman Park, aged 75 and his ashes were scattered at Karrakatta Cemetery.
