The Minmi Roll of Honour has 79 names inscribed of those who returned home from The Great War.
The 50th name inscribed is Private Edward Hodge, referred to as Teddy.
I could not locate a date of death or a place of burial or ashes interred for Teddy, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Private Edward Hodge, 35th Battalion (Reg No-1145), labourer from Upper Church Street, Minmi, New South Wales, born at Minmi, New South Wales on the 15th July 1896 to John, died? and Esther Hodge died?
Edward enlisted on the 4th January 1916, age 19 years 5 months, at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A24 Benalla on the 1st May 1916.
Disembarked Plymouth, England 9.7.1916.
Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 21.11.1916.
Admitted to hospital 17.12.1916 (scabies), 9.12.1917 (septic knee).
Granted leave to England from 22.1.1918 to 6.2.1918.
Wounded in action - 4.4.1918 (GSW right arm), 22.8.1918 (GSW forearm).
Invalided to England 26.8.1918.
Granted furlough from 15.10.1918 to 29.10.1918.
Commenced return to Australia 8.1.1919.
Teddy arrived home invalided on the 20th February 1919, being discharged medically unfit on the 17th April 1919.
Report of a framed certificate presented to Teddy, and 23 other Minmi boys on behalf of the Tarro Shire Council. A certificate was also presented to the relatives of Private William Younger Grubb Black, KIA 25th July 1916, the 3rd name inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour as Fallen. A certificate was also presented to Private David Hodge, 4th & 56th Battalions, Reg No-3057, miner from Northcote Street, Aberdare, N.S.W., son of John and Elizabeth Hodge, born at Wallsend 1891. Name not inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour. Thomas was a miner from Greta, N.S.W., who enlisted with the 1st Australian Pioneer Battalion, Reg No-2121, son of John and Elizabeth Hodge, born at Wallsend 1882. Name not inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour.
