Two days after Great Britain entered the war, Staff Sergeant McMillen of fered his services, but on account of military duties was not then permitted to go abroad. He enlisted, in April, 1916, and sailed from Australia in the following June. Staff-Sergeant McMillen is a most capable boxer, a first-class exponent of physical culture and while a member of the Victorian Railways gymnasium and Graham's gymnasium, won numerous competitions both in boxing and other branches of physical culture. Staff-Sergeant McMillen was only twenty years, of age when he enlisted, but stood 6 feet 4 inches in height, and was a perfect specimen of Australian manhood. He has seen service in France and Belgium, and is attached to the Ammunition Column.
