Arnold AMBLER was born on 20th May, 1899 in Southport, Lancashire, England

His parents were Amos AMBLER and Sarah MELLER who married in England in 1896

The family came to Australia from London on 7th December, 1908 on the ship Commonwealth from London with his parents Amos & Sarah & siblings, Vivian, & Eunice . His Father Amos died in 1910 in South Australia and his Mother Sarah remarried in 1915 to a John George Taylor BATTYE

Arnold had previously served for 1 year with the Senior Cadets before he enlisted in Adelaide on 3rd April, 1918 and embarked with the 2nd South Australian General Reinforcements (Australian Army Medical Corp_ on the ship RMS Orontes on 5th June, 1918

He returned to Australia on the ship Runic which left on 30th December, 1919 and arrived in Australia on 3rd February , 1920

He was discharged on 27th February, 1920

He married Alice Doreen SHAPTER on 26th May, 1926 in the Baptist Church in Adelaide

Arnold re-enlisted for WW2 in Adelaide on 8th April, 1942 (Private) - he was living in Vermont, SA at the time

He was discharged on 1st October, 1945 - last Unit 3rd Battalion Volunteer Defence Corp.

Arnold died on 1st June 1955 in South Australia and was buried in Centennial Park Cemetery in Adelaide
