Frederick William LEVERINGTON was born in Plaistow, Essex England on 29.10.1881 to Frederick William (1855-1926) and Alice Amy ARIS (1860-1933).

Frederick and his parents migrated to Australia in 1883.

Frederick LEVERINGTON joined the AIF on 21.07.1915 and was allocated service number 3391. He was originally posted to the 10th Battalion but was transferred to the 50th Infantry Battalion.

He sailed to Egypt with the battalion in 1915 and was admitted to hospital with a hernia.

The battalion sailed to France and the Western Front. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 29.014.1917.

He was wounded in action in France on 05.05. 1918 with a gunshot wound to the right arm. As a result of this wound he was returned for medical treatment in England.

He returned to Australia aboard the SS Saxon on 31.12.1918. He was discharged as medically unfit on 31.03.1919.
