Aubrey was killed by a bursting shell and was acting as Censor at Gallipoli.
"...Lieutenant Aubrey John Bickley Sherring, 7th Company, Australian Army Service Corps, a teacher of Goulburn, NSW. Lt Bickley enlisted on 16 September 1914 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Port Macquarie on 21 December 1914.
