Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Charles and Elizabeth LESEBERG, Browns Plains, Chiltern, Victoria

DEAR IS THE MEMORY LEFT BEHIND OF A LIFE SO LOVING TRUE & KIND

KILLED IN ACTION.
It will be learned with a great deal of regret by district residents that Private John Leseberg, son of Mr and Mrs C. Leseberg, of Brown's Plains, was killed on March 28 in action in  France, presumably in one of the recent big battles. The sad intimation relating to Private Leseberg's death was communicated by the authorities to the Rev F. H. Peake, who  notified his parents. Private Leseberg was a very active young man, who earned the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends. He was a great sport and an ardent footballer. In  the football field he had very few equals in the country. Private Leseberg enlisted over two years ago, at the same time as Privates Murray Smith and John Christie.
