Died on this date - 21st February........Lance Corporal Archibald Haddow was born at Kensington Hill, Victoria in 1893. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 29th February, 1916 as a 23 year old Surveyor & Engineering Draftsman from Melbourne, Victoria.

Sapper Haddow was promoted to Lance Corporal while at Engineers Reinforcements, Seymour Camp, Victoria on 29th February, 1916. He was appointed Acting Corporal on 30th June, 1916 then Acting Sergeant from 22nd September, 1916.

Acting Sergeant Haddow arrived in England on 20th July, 1917 & his rank reverted to Sapper.

Sapper Haddow arrived in France on 11th November, 1917 & was appointed Lance Corporal on 6th July, 1918.

Lance Corporal Haddow proceeded to England for repatriation on 6th February, 1919. He was admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital at Sutton Veny, Wiltshire on 15th February, 1919 with Influenza & was reported dangerously ill with Broncho Pneumonia on 21st February, 1919.

Lance Corporal Archibald Haddow died at 7.40 p.m. on 21st February, 1919 from pneumonia. He was buried in St. John the Evangelist Churchyard at Sutton Veny, Wiltshire where 140 other WW1 Australian Soldiers & 2 Australian Nurses are buried.
